How to access departmental shared files - files.mines.edu
This is the new file service for ADIT & Central MINES.EDU Realm hosts, put into place in Spring 2016, with a combination of Tech Fee funds and CCIT budget.
We will be migrating the various file servers in place for CSM users to be accessible through the Files.mines.edu service. Over Spring Break 2016, the previous academic (Talon, ADIT Y: Drive) & administrative (AdminFS, ADIT I: Drive) departmental file servers have been migrated to the new system.
For instructions on how to access the service:
- ADIT Workstations
- Windows Computers
- Macintosh Computers
It should already be mapped:
If it is not mapped, please visit Mines Help Center and request that your workstation be looked by CCIT to troubleshoot why it is not mapping.
This is based on Windows 10, but it is very similar for Windows 7 and 8.
Start -> File Explorer
Right-click “This PC” -> Map network drive

Type \\files\shared on the “Folder" box
Check “Reconnect at sign-in”
If you’re not an a PC that is joined to the ADIT domain, check “Connect using different credentials”
Enter ADIT\username (substituting your user name)
Enter your password
Check “Remember my credentials”
Click anywhere on the desktop to make sure you have the Finder menu on the menu bar
Click on Go
Click on “Connect to Server"
