Question or Problem:  Is SpamAssasin still available?
Solution:SpamAssasin is no longer supported by Computing, Communications, and Information Technologie (CCIT.) Instead, CCIT manages a default spam identification system (http://cardea.mines.edu). If you want to manage whitelists and blacklists, you will need to request a quarantine account (http://ccit.mines.edu/Spam-System-Use#quarantineinboxoption).

The CCIT spam identification system will analyze all email messages received at an @mines.edu address and tag any message likely to be spam. If you use email client filters to delete spam, you can filter on subject lines that begin with [spam and put those in another folder, to manage at your convenience. If you would like to fine-tune how the spam identification system tags and manages spam, you can log on to the default spam identification system and modify your spam preferences. The preferences tab is located near the top of the window, between the tab labeled Quarantine Inbox and the Log Off link. Once you click on the Preferences tab, you are presented with 4 sub-tabs across the top that help you manage whitelists/blacklist, quarantine and spam settings along with your password.

Notes:For a more complete discussion of junk email and instructions on how to filter it using common email programs, search the FAQfinder database for many more spam-related entries (http://ccit.mines.edu/cgi-bin/faq/advanced.cgi?Category=Spam).

Confused? Need help? If you are not comfortable configuring filters within your email client, request assistance via the Mines Help Center (http://helpdesk.mines.edu). Please be aware that CCIT can not administer whitelists and blacklists for individual users, but we can help with the initial configuration.
